Last night I was watching one of my favorite shows on TLC called Mystery Diagnosis and there was this lady on there that had migranes almost every day along with auras. The Auras came on suddenly and she went to see a neurologist. The neurologist thought hmmm I think that since the auras came on suddenly that maybe it is something to do with her heart and sent her to see a cardiologist and he sent a scope down into her heart and wouldn't you know she had a hole in her heart since birth and the auras came on when the hole got bigger. She also had gone to the ER and they ran a battery of test including an EEG and everything came back normal.
I am wondering if I'm just having a hypochondriac episode wondering if this is what is causing my constant headaches or if it is really the case. I called my neurologist this morning but I haven't got a call back. I don't think I will get a call back either because all he told me to do was lose weight. He took one look at me and told me I was overweight and that was what was causing my headaches. Jbug

I've been having strange auras lately, mostly without pain. Went to the ER a week ago today and they ran all sorts of tests on me. Everything came back normal from the brain CAT scan, the sonogram of my heart as well as the one of the main arteries in my neck leading to the brain.
Day before yesterday, I went to my ophalmologist for my yearly check and new glasses. When I told him about the auras, he explained a migraine to me. It is a blood vessel spasm. If the spasm happens below the head, you have an aura and pain and other things. If the spasm happens on the top of the brain, you also have the auras, pain and other stuff. If the spasm happens somewhere between the neck and top of the head, all you get are the auras and no pain. The name "occular migraines" is a misnomer because they have nothing to do with the eyes. They just cause visual disturbances. When I told him I was refered to a neurologist, he told me that the neurologist would tell me the same thing that the ER doctor told me "everything looks good and clear." He suggested I tell my GP about the auras. The reason I was given a heart sonogram was to see if there was any cholesterol that might have come loose and caused a TIA, not because heart decease causes migraines. A migraine is a blood vessel spasm between your neck and your brain! ![]() AND... couldn't you just brain the doctors and other people that pass off everything wrong with you because you are overweight?? ![]() ![]() ![]() (I just got rid of a circular aura by putting on the shades they gave me at the opthalmologist. Could it be the computer glare that is making them happen? Who knows!)

I was very angry when the doc told oh just lose weight. I was like umm aren't I doing that already and it seems to be getting worse as I lose the weight. I got a call back from the doc's nurse today and he wants me to come in. So the person that schedules his appointments is supposed to call me tomorrow to set that up as they had already gone home when the nurse called me back. I have a feeling I know what he will say..lose more weight. But I will go and see what he says anyway. I also called my pdoc because my pdoc is a neuropsychiatrist in addition to just being a pdoc so maybe he could help so his nurse was going to talk to him.
