Hello Everyone
![]() My back has been aching for the past 3 days! It is a stabbing, throbbing, pulsating pain on the lower part of my back. I've tried extra strength Tylenol.....doesn't work. I've tried putting a heating pad on.....works a bit. The pain level is about say 1 being not bad to 10 being extreme pain...it is a 10 while I am laying in my bed. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm barely getting any sleep due to the back pain. ![]() Zen888 ![]() |

Can you call a doc? I mean, I know it's Sunday today, but what about tomorrow? If the pain is bad enough - what about the going to the emergency room? I know you don't want to resort to doing that, but sometims you gotta do what you gotta do. Ya know? |

I would call the doc-- my friend had terrible low back pain at one time, and it turned out to be a kidney infection... Not trying to scare you, but just want you to get it checked out... Feel better.

Hi Zen.....I take flexeril which works pretty good, but it makes me feel drowsy sometimes. Its a muscle relaxer
I take it at bed time for my back pain. Its sucks to have back pain, I've been bothered by it all my life. I also take Codeine for it but only when it is really bad and I am unable to function at all. My doc recommends an ice pack for acute pain and heat after to relax the muscle. I have sciatica which is a pinched nerve and the pain radiates down my left leg (really annoying and painful)!!! Is yours muscular, disc related, or just stress?? Because intense anxiety can cause low back pain or make it worse...!!! Maybe it's time to see your primary physician..?? Hope you feel better soon (((((ZEN88))))) p.s. I find that walking 1 hour 3 x a week helps. When I sit to much my back pain gets worse or if I sleep to long in bed it irritates it. So maybe you need more activity....???? Just a thought??? ![]() ![]()

Ice. And stretching. Stretch your ham strings, that will help ease some of the strain in the low back.
Did you lift or push something that caused this? ![]()

(((((((( zen )))))))) My docs policy is if it's the worst back ache or headache or any kind of pain that you have had then it's time to be seen, on weekends that means hospital. I hope your pain lightens soon.

Well, I don't know what it is, but I know that I get really bad back pain when sitting too long, but my job is in a call center so I sit for about 6.5 hours a day.
Can you go for walks? or try stretching? I know when I stretch at night before bed, I tend to sleep better. Also, what about a nice bath? If you are stressed out maybe you need to get a really good book, put something that smells good to you in the water and spend about an hour in there with no distractions. It helps you relax. I have tried this a few times when I have been really really stressed and it works...at least for me. I hope you feel better soon. ![]() ![]()

Dear Zen888,
Placing, a larger bath towel, rolled into a bolster, in the small of your back, while laying on a hard padded surface, really helps. It reinforces the natural lumbar curve, while relieving pressure on the vertebra. The bolster, is formed by folding the towel lengthwise, and rolling it up. The hard padded surface, may be a carpeted floor, or a hard floor, covered by an exercise mat; most beds, are too soft. You may want to form a similar bolster, to place behind your neck, from a smaller towel. Hope you feel better, Larry |
