its a way of sealing the blood vessels in your nose it doesnt hurt, sometimes the blood vessels become week and that could be why you are having nose bleeds but a doctor will be able to work out why,

here is a link i think i spelt it wrong sorry

cauterized, I think she meant.

I agree, go see your doctor. It could be a few things, including a vitamin k deficiency, but your doctor needs to know that you are getting very frequent nosebleeds (epistaxis).

true... my brother has had his nose cauterized 3times now, has lots of nosebleeds. It could also be partly to do with stress... but I think it's best to go see a doctor about it... the only thing is it's unlikely they'll be able to get it sorted before you finish your mocks because they may refer you to an ear, nose and throat specialist.

Hope the exams go well.
Take care,
Molly

I grew up w/debilitating nosebleeds, and once I stopped all dairy, they went away...many people don't believe me, but nothing else stopped them...try weeding out some foods....

There is a hereditary disorder called HHT that can cause nosebleeds.
The blood vessels and arteries form a direct connection due to missing capillaries and that causes the bleeds. In the nose, these very small areas called telangectasia form, but usually the nosebleeds can be helped. However, other organs can be involved, it can also cause bleeds in other parts of the body. You can look it up at www.hht.org.

My H and 3 sons all have this disorder. They all get nosebleeds which we can deal with but youngest son had a brain AVM and had to have brain surgery. Thankfully, he is ok now.

Those of you who have nosebleeds should check it out.

Also, to treat the nosebleeds apply direct pressure. Don't put your head back as it only causes the blood to drip down your throat. Ice may help as well. There is a product on the market called Nasal Cease or Urgent QR. It is a powder that stops the bleed as soon as you apply it to the area that is bleeding.

Using a humidifier helps as well as saline spray drops and some say Afrin helps too. You can even apply some aquaphor to keep the area moist.

Good luck.

Peaceout

Nosebleeds also can be a sign of a clotting disorder, or of extremely low complete blood counts (red, white and platelets). Dr. visit is in order sooner rather than later.
