Has anyone ever heard of this disorder? Its a skin disorder thats basically inflamation of the hair follicles. Its usually on upper arms and thighs. The KP on my upper arms has pretty much gone away completely. But its still alive and well on my upper thighs. There is a medication that my dermatologist gave me a long time ago but if I use it after shaving it kills! So I have to not shave to use it so my legs dont burn but then I look like Robin Williams lol. Does anyone have any "home rememdies" that don't involve steroid creams that sting like crazy?

Hey, hon.

My daughter and grandson have pretty good cases of this. I have/had it as well but to a lesser degree (it's heredity).

The dermatologist said there's nothing that can be done for it but it usually gets better as one gets older. That's about it. I can say that my bumps all but disappeared in my 30's and now I just have dry skin. Mine was worse on my arms than on my legs, with face and legs on the lighter side. Mye daughter and grandson have it equally on face, arms and legs...a pretty good case of it with both of them. She did say that heavy duty moisturizers can help and prescribed daughter a prescription one that didn't help.

I wish I had more help for you. I know that once I googled it and found a forum that discussed this and this only. It was great and they had some good info there...alot of sharing and support.

The dermatolgist said, that while there's not alot to help it, there are things that can irritate it and to use the better laundry soaps, aveeno bath products, heavy moisturizers that are name brand, and good makeups.

Good luck, hon.

KD

thanks kimmydawn. my dermatologist prescribed this stuff thats a steroid cream that didnt really work either. and i can only use it for 2 weeks at a time and then have to take a week break or else it will start having the same effects as me taking regular steroids. I use proactive on my face and started using the repairing lotion on my legs and it actually worked. I only used it once in the morning and the red bumps were gone until later that day so I think if I use it a couple times a day it should do the trick. Only problem is that proactiv is really expensive.... and I hate using it for something thats not even a health issue. Maybe ill just use it come swim suit season lol

thanks for the advice.
