Hi,

I finally got my MD (Primary Care Physician) to send to the State Medicaid Managed Care office for the Referral to a Neurologist.

I have been Having such pain and now new symptoms since my last MRI in 2003.

I am really hoping to find some sort of additional answers for the pain I have been experiencing daily. I am still taking the Percocet 10/325 mg. Taking (2) of them three times a day, and still having severe pain flares and also other Neurological symptoms.

I go to see the Neurologist beginning of March. I am really hoping to find some answers. When I called the office in regards to my MRI of the Cervical Spine and X-rays of my Cervical and Thoracic part of my neck, the Nurse said they are quite a bit older than he would like only to bring them anyway.

I am hoping for him to do another MRI since the last was in 2003. Mostly since then I have had an EMG done on my right upper extremity and dx of Carpal Tunnel in my right side.

Since then, I have been having severe Headaches with Nausea. Yesterday when I went to go to sleep in my recliner, as I am no longer able to sleep laying down.

I had a pillow behind my head and shoulders as my left shoulder has been in severe pain. After getting comfortable as I am able, My legs and feet started to just go mad. I had not had this before. My right ankle went into extreme spasm and toes contorted. While My Left Calf of my leg had a huge painful constriction of the big part of my back calve. I had to get up screaming out as it hurt so bad. I walked around the apartment doing everything I could think of to make the leg muscle relax and out of spasm. Only this lasted for about 5 minutes of sharp pain which I was scared would not end. It finally relaxed and was able to put my legs and feet up again.

Also, I have been having trouble with my vision as in the evenings and at night it has been going blurred at times and I have to close my left eye in order to even come close to being able to see. This has also been happening with my vision when driving on the highway. It comes and goes. So I made an appointment with the GP who did blood work to rule out Diabetes and metabolic profile and checked my TSH for the thyroid problem. I called the nurse who said my blood work came back normal so I am wondering if the vision problems are coming from the Neurological problems?

I have been reading up on different disorders, and so far am diagnosed with Cervical Spinal Stenosis, and Carpal Tunnel. Not ruled out though is the large amount of Neuroleptics I was taking in the '90s like Thorazine. There is alot I have read on Neuroleptics and Tartive Dyskenisia. So I am only hoping to find something out next month about all of this.

I fear MS or Parkinson only hope to find some answers. The pain ends up consuming me at times. Any advise of things I may want to tell the Neurologist would be help thank you for taking the time in reading this long post.

Thanks again-

I am so happy for you!! Finally a referral to Neurologist... I am also pleased that the nurse said she felt the doctor would think that your MRI would be too old to really use. That is a good sign that the doctor will be concerned about your current medical state and will want to look at all possible causes.!!!

What I would recommend is that you start now getting a written history of your symptoms together....past and present, to give to the dr. I wrote a history for my doctor and it really helped him be able to ask more specific questions regarding my condition and it also allowed me to stay more focused during that first appointment. I would:

1. Give symptom (ie. headaches, tingling, pain, etc.)
2. Give M/YYYY when symptom first began
3. What what if anything relieved symptom
4. What if anything made symptom worse
5. What help did you seek
6. What tests were done
7. What were the results of those tests
8. What treatment was perscribed..did it help
9. Medications you are currently taking to treat symptoms...does it help
10.Medications you have taken in the past

Add more information as you need to. I had a lot of weird symptoms such as bowel problems, tingling in my face and arms, etc... things I thought were completely unrelated to my problems at that time but were very different for me. I did not mention them ..but after I had the surgery those symptoms disappeared too. Finally a referral to Neurologist...

I would avoid going in with your ideas of a possible diagnosis. Let the doctor look at you, look at your physical symptoms, look at what has helped or made things worse in the past, look at test results in the past and those he will currently order, etc..... Then you can research more as a diagnosis is either given or ruled out. Good luck to you and please keep us posted. Finally a referral to Neurologist...

Hi,

I'm glad you got a referral to Neurologist. You are having a hard time there.

I just want to tell you that I keep following you on your path. I read what you wrote and I would never put you on ignore. I will never put anyone on ignore. I know too much what rejection means.

I sure hope you will feel better soon and you get some answers to your health problems. I'm sorry I have no good advice to give to you. I cannot help you much but I care.

Thank You all very much...

I just go through times where I feel as being paranoid and times of feeling so much like "Heard" so much in 3D it seems at times here to carry over and now I feel really stupid for thinking In my mind that everyone here had me on there ignore list. Thanks for the words of support and reassurance (sp?) I at times need.

I thank you all, thank you for being here and am grateful that you have put my mind at ease.

Thank you for Asking about it Daisy 6.

I did have the appointment on like Wednesday of this past week. My Case Manager drove me out of town to the office.

Having brought the Films of the MRI which was done In 2003, the doctor put some of the views of the films up on the light screen and turned off the lights and showed me and my Case Manager the MRI showed from 2003 the bone spurs from then and how even then my spinal Cord was narrowed in suh a way taht from the films from the MRI that it was bad enough then to dagnose the condition as "Cefvical Spinal Stenosis".

I am to have an MRI on Monda y Morning and then visit with the Case Manager on Monday after the test is done. The Neurologist wants to compare the MRI from 2003 with the present. He also ordered a full x-ray panel also.

On the 22nd of this month I have another EMG scheduled only this time it is testing for nerve damage on my left arm as the right extremety shows up as nerve damage.

Just need to hope for the best, I keep the communication lines open to writing down the details. Thank you all for the support in this matter and the advise which proved to be quite helpful.

Thanks again to all in the support and advice. Appreciate it all.

Take Care,
and Hugs to those who need them Finally a referral to Neurologist... I am hugging myself at the present.

Chris
