I want to start a thread to support people who want to lose weight.

You don't have to post anything you don't want to. Just ask for support when you need it.

I want to lose a little weight myself. I'll post whether or not I've exercised and kept up with my diet plans for the day. I'm going to start my plan tomorrow.

They don't have to be complicated plans Ben. Why don't you make up a quick and simple plan for today and start on it right away? You can always fine tune the details later. Weight loss thread

I've decided to cut out all soda pop that's not diet. I'm also going to exercise to this DVD I bought yesterday.

I bought some ingredients to make some healthy pita sandwiches for lunch.

Ugh, I started out good...

I did some aerobics today, but then I pigged out on potato chips and chocolate. I wish my Mom didn't buy potato chips. I don't buy candy or junk food when I go grocery shopping.

I just vomited some of it out. I felt guilty about pigging out. I don't think I got all of it out.

Sigh, I think I have the beginnings of an eating disorder.

I really have to stop pigging out and eat healthy.

I read on another thread of yours that you started this thread and wanted to let you know I saw this thread but for me even though I need to lose weight I can't join your thread because I have an eating disorder if I start focusing on my eating patterns past what my doctor has set up then my eating disorder will end up out of control again. This might also be why others are not coming in on this dieting thread of yours. So please don't take it personally if you don't get many replys or people joining in here on this thread ok. It might be that others have this same problem. I think this thread is a great idea for those that are able to do this with you so hang in there, you're doing great and this is a great idea.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I'd love to lose 20 pounds but I'd look good even if I lost just 10. So I'm focusing on that - getting back into my old jeans. I've been going to the gym regularly, but I'm already a very healthy eater, so it's more of a matter of improving my metabolism.

Speaking of metabolisms, Greenleaves... I'm sure you're smart enough to know that throwing up is a terrible idea. If you don't HAVE an eating disorder, then don't create one for yourself. That would just add to the problems and certianly will not fix anything.

Good thread, though. Thanks for starting it!

So, Greenleaves -- how are you doing on this?

I didn't go to the gym yesterday as planned, and probably won't be able to today - I have meetings scheduled until 9:30 tonight!

I'm going to make up for it this weekend - either some long bike rides if the weather holds up, or will go skiing or snowboarding. Or just back to the gym, but I'd rather be outside right now.

Sigh, me too.

I'm going to go for a long walk today to make up for those calories.

Can someone hold me accountable, please, and ask how it went?

Thanks,

gg

will do, gg. You hold me accountable too, ok?

One thing that helped was that I put an ad on Craigslist, looking for a workout partner. It's worked out really well. It's a lot easier to drag myself to the gym when I'm feeling groggy, knowing that I'll have let someone down if I don't show up.

That's a great idea! And I need to get busy, or it will be too dark and too cold.

Thanks, LMo.

So GG -- did you go for your walk? Anything else?

I just got back from cross-country skiing. It was GREAT! I feel terrific. Very re-motivated!

I'll keep you updated...

I always do well when I write down what I've eaten. This type of thread doesn't get much acitivity (at least not in the past) but I'll keep up with you...

I just lost (since Christmas) the 8 lbs I gained from Hurricane Wilma. (stress = cortisol, and hurricane food = canned food that does NOT like my body.)

I would like to lose 2 lbs a week for a few months at most. I can do this... no garlic rolls and no soda. Sounds easy enough, but I get so tired of just plain water.. and coke brightens up in my throat (I lost my senses of taste and smell..eating is a chore or a bore.)

I eat one meal a day but in normal day I eat half of it at the restaurant, and half later on at home.. so it's "2" meals. I used to take the free slither of dessert and eat that for breaking the overnight fast. (The nutritionist told me to stop that... and eat oatmeal or cereal etc and juice.. and I gained weight so forget that! Weight loss thread )

Ok today I ate a warm sticky bun, small coke, then salad with olive oil, ny steak, greenbeans... and have half for tomorrow (maybe breakfast?)

I'm unable to exercise...and my back just spasmed big time, so I can't barely move...

Yeah, someone here explained it's because people might have eating disorders and cannot focus on food. I gotta watch out for that too. Thanks for keeping up with me. Weight loss thread

Wow, 2 pounds per week is a lot I think. That would be very difficult for me. I get tired of plain water too. I drink either diet soda or flavoured water. Can you drink diet soda instead?

Only 1 meal a day! Don't you get hungry? I would. I think I read somewhere that it's actually better to eat many small meals throughout the day.

You only eat half your food? That doesn't sound like a lot of food. At this rate, I think you will lose 2 lbs per week! Make sure you're getting enough nutrients though. It's good that you have a nutritionist.

</font><blockquote><div id="quote"><font class="small">Quote:</font>

</div></font></blockquote><font class="post">

That probably explains why you eat so little, you can't expend as many calories as others who can exercise. I don't really exercise, even though I really should.

Sorry about your back. Is it better now?

Good for you! I am ashamed to admit I didn't get the walk in. I was doing laundry all day, and I just didn't get it done before it was too dark. Then, of course, my hubby was looking for dinner.

Hmmm, I did go up and down the basement stairs a number of times...

Today's another day.

This is a great idea. I've seen studies which show that simply tracking behavior can lead to changes.

I do better when I do this, and I've started to do it again in the last few days.

Of course I really don't want to write down what I just had for breakfast... Weight loss thread

Ok! As _Sky mentioned, a number of threads have started and withered, but if it helps even for a short time, I think we should do it!

I am currently eating breakfast:
- cherry almond clusters cereal, which probably has too much sugar (it tastes sweeter than I like cereal - probably won't buy it again, but because of the taste rather than calories)
- lactose-free nonfat milk
- green tea
