I have no idea how. The phrase "walking on eggshells" is very accurate. It is literally like walking on eggshells. For real.

Borderline mothers are quite a challenge. There is actually a book about dealing with borderlines called Stop Walking on Eggshells. I suggest you get a copy. Also, you might find it helpful to talk to a counselor about your situation.

I know that's got to be hard. I also have BPD and I know my kids have gone thru a lot because of it. I agree with payne1 on the book; I was surprised to find so much out there on the topic. Find out as much as you can, and remember: give yourself a break and be patient with yourself. Dealing with anyone with BPD is hard, but I would think its especially hard when it's your parent.

The tough part is that she is your mother. Just try to keep thinking that she acts the way she does because of her diagnosis. But it can still hurt.
Definitely read the Walking on Eggshells book! It gives concrete suggestions for dealing with borderlines. ![]() |
