I recently have noticed that young kids in my area don't really play together anymore... I have trouble adjusting to that, because when I was young, that definitely was not the case.
I would love for my son to have a more active social life... But how, when other kids don't seem interested ???
Thoughtful suggestions please

There's always an adjustment for every age. I still finds plenty of kids hanging out together doing things they love, in youth clubs et al.

Depends on the neighborhood and traffic and if the kids are home or in other outside activities.
Between both where I am now, and where kids go to school, i can find clusters of kids playing outside.
