My son will turn 21 soon. He used to bathe regularly but then this past year or so he has stopped doing it regularly. He was into drinking heavily and has anxiety and depression. He is on medication and sees a therapist now. He has a gf but NO other friends. He has pushed all of his friends away because they don't smoke weed. He commutes to college 3 days a week. He rarely brushes his teeth. I honestly don't know how his gf can stand him. He doesn't say much to me although he is getting better. He plans on moving across the country in January after he graduates college. I dont' know how he plans on holding down a real job if he keeps this up. Right now he has a part time job but it is not that great so the caliber of people that work there are about the same with the hygeine. Why are people like this? Is it just laziness? Or is it the depression/anxiety? He doesn't take care of any possessions either. His room is terrible his car looks like the hoarder show with trash in the back seat. Of course he has never bought anything on his own.

From my own experiences I sure wouldn't say laziness. My anxiety tends to do an all or nothing kind of feeling. I think if he has anxiety and depression bad I think it is great that he is finishing collage. That is a hard task when your mental health is struggling. I totally understand the fear and concern you have for your son. I would be doing the same thing. As a person who completely can be controlled by her anxiety, I know that "I can barely breath let alone have a life feeling." It really does take over your exsistance. Good luck to you and your son.

Hello there, It's depression and anxiety. No one wants to be unhygienic but due to other factors, these things happen. To me this is not a reflection on towards a person.
