I was wondering if anyone knows if we are supposed to stay in counseling to continue getting SSDI my review is in a year and a half, Ijust moved to a great place and am using meds and coping skills to manage and am doing fairly well but if I need to be/stay in treatment, i will esp. since I am agoraphobic and yesterday was kind of bad. I am so anxious about my review it took me 2 years and 3 hospitalizations to get approved five total hospitalizations and years and years of meds changes and counseling. Thank you for any feed back u can offer.

Not sure about reviews. Do you have an advocate that helped you get SSDI in the first place? I would call them and ask or ask your pdoc or therapist. Sorry I wasn't much help.

Thats' ok don't have advocate yet but mi ght be getting one as I just found an independent living center in Colorado Springs, something I was told two years ago doesn't exist in Colorado, there is a definite disconnect between what services are offered in colorado. Thanks for the feedback

i believe social security admistration for ongoing SSDI can provide you with a psychiatric review if one is needed for continuation of SSDI. however, i never was asked to do this while on SSDI. i met with my caseworker upon reviews, answered her questions about my need for continuuing my benefits and that's all i had to do. it's up to the caseworker to request a psychiatric review which is highly unlikely for you. as for staying in counseling you may benefit from this due to what u shared.
as for your review...no need to worry. it's with your caseworker and a quite simple process...questions about where you are re how u feel, etc.
you should do fine. also sometimes they cancel the review altogether even if it is scheduled. but they are required to do reviews from time to time/formality. it's primarily just to continue your case.

I always wondered about this process as well. I've been on SSDI for almost two years now and was curious how the process worked. Thanks.
