Surprising to me I talked to someone at work the other day about my bipolar dx- I did not tell them about the other dx's but they shared and let me know that they know someone close to them with a mental health problem-- we talked on some stuff. I mentioned to them about I was going to drop the work insurance due to they have specifically "excludes Mental Health and Behavior Therapy and Treatment".. and I was having issues finding insurance that actually covered such things.
To my surprise this co-worker told me that he found that hard believe, and we looked at this site: http://www.medhealthinsurance.com/mentalhealth.htm Quote:
I thought I would share due to I am having issues, I find it so difficult and defeating at times that I am having so many issues trying to find insurance that will cover and help me out with my mental health issues. I hope I can find something on here that i can afford as well-- I hope this helps out some others too. __________________ "A laugh is worth a hundred groans in any market." Charles Lamb

I wouldn't drop your work insurance, especially since they probably pay some of it or get a group discount, etc. I am self-insured through my state and it is very expensive! You can add insurance but opting out of work insurance, which is usually fine for medical issues, could cost you more money in the long run.
It looks like Colorado has some good programs? http://www.colorado.gov/cs/Satellite.../1251581077594 __________________ "Never give a sword to a man who can't dance." ~Confucius |

Yeah it came down to the wire, but I can't find anything that I can fit my budget right now on sites that I find, so I am having to stick with the old insurance from work- It upsets me due to they are not even full insurance they are low benefit insurance
I was reading more on that site that it may take also up to 12 months for another insurance to pick up a preexsisting dx--- I just recently thought maybe I would try these drugs that these pdocs offer--- (I am sorry I am still having issues with the idea so I am poking fun-- and i am sorry for that)... but if I am going to get on meds, I am going to need some sort of insurance to help pay for the medication-- and I can't hitch on some of these stores' policies due to I do not fit the range for Medicare ... I am 25 guys.. come one-(America not sure if there are other things in other countries). Any ways-- I Thought maybe I would keep this work insurance and as the year goes, keep looking for insurance- I wish I had a better job where I could have better insurance- this low benefit is sucky but thank you Perna you do make a good point with having to pay more with some out of pocket instead of group plans. __________________ "A laugh is worth a hundred groans in any market." There is the PC drug discount card that might help with your Rx expenses.
Also, many pharmacies offer $4 Rx's: Walmart, Target, etc. Tell your pdoc you can't afford expensive Rx's. Pdoc may have samples for you, or can prescribe the drugs that are $4. There is also PPA, a prescription drug assistance program. And many pharmaceutical companies offer help with prescription costs. Lousy insurance benefits do suck. |
