There is state medicare/medicade and Federal medicare/medicade. And depending on your circumstances and dxs' you should be able to find something. Don't be discouraged by rejection the 1st 2nd try. Keep at it. Make sure you are being firm and using language properly. There are certain medical terms that will move you quickly through the system. In the interm try to sleep, eat, and know you are not alone. Sincerely, H. ![]()

So I am at another indigent clinic outside the system. It is supported by donations, adjacent to this new hospital I have started going to for my emergency needs. My new pdoc (not sure if it will work out) is private; found that needle in that haystack by googling medicare.gov. I still don't have a t. I am doing that with Ani. Carol

(((BrokeNBeautiful))) I do understand your frustration but it is from the cuts being imposed by the GOP's that are causing doctors to drop out of the duel eligibility programs. I live in the capital of a red state and there are no psychiatrists, not one, that accepts duel eligible coverage. When I first signed up I had a fantastic primary care Dr I loved, then her practice dropped out of the program because of the Medicaid side. My state has shrunk the payments so low it doesn't pay for Dr's to do all the paperwork required. I went to a successions of primary docs and ended up in a group that cares for geriatrics. I'm disabled not over 65. My only other choice was the community medical center and they will not provide interpreters. They also treat me as if I am a disease, when they did blood work w/o informing me they tested me for HIV. I have no risks for that, but I'm poor, they also insisted I have a TB test because it's a disease the poor get. So it's the geriatric practice for my primary care. My T thankfully is willing to sign on under a clause that allows me to see her as if she were a network member although they must pay her her higher fee. There is no other T available and she signs. In most things I have no choice about who I see. I was discharged from rehab after surgery before things were set up and before the doctors and therapist wanted me to go. They knew I was going home to a second floor apt alone. But all my insurance cared about is that I could walk a few feet with a walker, that was there sole criteria, by a non-medical doc who makes these decisions. However had something happed to me and I needed to be readmitted my insurance would have been fined for doing that. They gambled and won this time. That is something that Obama has put into place. Anyone on Medicare who is released too soon and needs to be re hospitalized, the hospital or the insurance will be fined, which ever is at fault. Currently the law that requires everyone to have insurance is not yet in effect. HMO's are trying to convince that it is Obama who is causing the price to go up. This is ridiculous. If everyone has insurance AND a doctor then everyone can get preventive care and health care cost will go down, not up. The HMO's are doing this to try and get the laws repealed because in the long run the laws are going to work in favor of the people and lower profits of greedy HMO's they do not care if people get hurt in the meantime--why would they, these are the same people who deny life saving care and cut people off when they find out they have cancer by saying it is part of a preexisting condition. The problem is that now both Medicaid and Medicare have been cut by the GOP so much that doctors do not get reimbursed the cost of their care. They do not want to take anymore people who have Medicare and those on Medicaid have community doctors but those on duel eligibility are out of luck. Right now the GOP is trying to tell the democrats they will let the tax cuts expire for the rich IF they cut more from Medicare and Medicaid. You want to blame someone blame the party of NO, that is holding everyone hostage and saying; fine the tax cuts for the middle class can expire too! They will not negotiate. Obama has said no more cuts to these programs. He knows there are already too many people who can not find doctors because of the previous cuts. I know none of this will help you with your need to find care, but I hope it clarifies why you are having so much trouble finding doctors particularly in psychiatry. As someone on duel care I have the same frustrations. Have you looked into a nurse partitioner who specializes in psych? Currently that is what I have for a pdoc and I don't see that changing unless I find a way to move back to my home state.
