I just got the papers in the mail for a review. I haven't seen a dr since may, and a therapist since last year as I have been really paranoid and not wanting their help. Also not taking the meds. What do I do? Should I call this dr? Should I say in the review why I haven't been doing this? Please help!

There is a gentleman who used to be an adjudicator for s.s.. Look for him on youtube. Can't remember his name. Anthony/, Tony ???. I'll look for ít and get his name. Google everything you can about disability and what your rights are. I just went through this a few months ago. Very stressfull. |

Well, I was seeing her for several years, and then I kind of wanted to try natural ways. So I have proof that I did all these tests with extreamly low seretonin and dopamine, and that I was 'prescribed' these natural vitamins and supplements from a company. Basically, not being compliant, but really really tired of the whole mental health system and it was frustrating me, I needed a break! I saw her in May, and I know there won't be a problem with me seeing her again before I fill out the paperwork, would that look bad or?? I really don't see myself working right now, I get a lot of panic attacks, depression and I'm a single mom. I also get really paranoid. I don't even know what my diagnosis is at this point. This right here has been enough to send me off the deep end and it really sucks. Can they really put people out on the streets like that?

There is a really good website. Google social security claims of psychiatric disability . Www.ncbi.nab.non.NIH.gov . It has a lot of details. Good luck to you.

How do I tell? It is 12 pages, 5 or 6 of them being the same form to fill out for each of the dr.s I've seen. I remember doing a review like 7 years ago and it was a lot more detailed and longer. Plus a close friend or relative had to fill one out last time.

I'm not sure of the specific form you have, but I know what you're talking about. It sounds as if you'll be going through a full cdr review. I'm sure you're aware of this, but just in case, EVERYONE on disability will go through a review(s) at some point no matter what the disability. When you decide to stop seeing your doctor and taking meds you hurt yourself in several ways..
1. ss will request medical notes for the last 12 months of treatment. If there's no notes the only options that exist are to deny you or send you to one of their doctors. This is why you don't want to stop treatment, because often a decision can be made based on the notes of your doctor. 2. It automatically raises the question of just how disabled are you if you don't need any kind of treatment and you've admitted above to being non compliant. I disagree with the above posters comment Quote:
My advice would be this... be specific and detailed in filling out the forms and give examples (attach additional pages if you need to). If you have a hard time sleeping at night don't just say "I have a hard time sleeping" but explain how and be honest. I also think you should make an appointment with your doctor so you'll have a more current assessment of your condition. I don't think you'll automatically lose your benefits, but I do think you have potentially made things more difficult for yourself then what they needed to be. I'm only guessing, but I think it's likely that ss will want you to see one of their doctors for an exam. I do believe (not sure) you have the right to request your doctor to perform the exam, but you'd want to research that and then make sure your doctor would be willing to perform it. |

I saw my doctor today, and a therapist yesterday. I have been seeing a mentor for a year for my mental health so that is good. THe only thing is, I was going to a regular dr for physical stuff and I didn't tell them about my mental health issues. I just wanted a dr for once to see me as a person instead of judge me for being crazy ( I have been going to dr's for my mental health since I was 8). Is this bad? My pdoc (psychatrist) agreed that I couldn't work and wrote a really long note in my chart about that, so now that is on record at least. It is kind of complicated. I have been disability since I was 17, so now drawing off my dads retirement.
