This is getting really old..... Our food benefits have been cut again, going by LAST years tax returns! We make $900 a month (for two of us) Last year was last year, we don't get the same amount of money by a longshot. I wonder if this is supposed to be "survival of the fittest". This is how to weed out the unwanted, like us.

It certainly can seem that way, it seems this society is not so great at helping those who need help...and more caters to people who are quite self sufficient. Is there any way to fight that or get the food benefits re-instated?

A couple months more and you'll have this year's (2012) tax returns to go by and can prove you need more. That's too bad though that you got caught in a bad place like that; our house did that to us too so our monthly payments went up even though the worth went down.

The welfare office is "re-evaluating" us. We've been through this numerous times. Usually, in the process, they lose our info, need more info, and the caseworker drops the ball. I feel worn down by this and the fact that we cannot get any other assistance (heat, utilities) is so frustrating and demeaning. Believe me, we'd much rather have a job than have to beg to the state all the time. I just want to give up.

Do you have a county social worker?

I have one who helps me know about all of the programs that I'm qualified for ~ and she gets the ball rolling. She's been a great help to me! There are many social programs out there aimed towards all different types of cases. You ought to check into it.

The county social worker is separate from the county financial worker though...which is probably a good thing.

Gentle hugs to you ~ take care!

Thank you Shezbut. We don't have anything like that here. We have to dealwith the welfare office and they aren't known for compassion.
