Sorry if this question is answered here already somewhere but I'm in a panic. Pdoc wants me to take 6 week medical leave from work. Mixed bp episode. I run our company - we don't offer a disability leave benefit. Would I go to the county & apply for some type of assistance? What would they require? I'm so afraid to deal with this & to not have income. I am a single mother with no child support. I've always worked. I'm so scared.
Thanks.

If you have any savings or assests, you will have to spend all of that first before qualifying to income based assistance.

I have missed you. I am so sorry your dealing with so much. I dont know what the process is in California.. I would ask your Pdoc for information on where to go to get help.. He should know where to at least start the process. If for some reason he I would say go to your local county mental health department .. they typical have social workers that find you help in an type they can.

I hope your able to find a lot of help to ease the troubles

You sound like you would be a good case for getting help. Contact your local Medicaid/SSI office.

Hi BlueInnana. Disability leave in CA can be done online by creating an account on the Employment Development Department website and completing the form. You can also call them, but good luck getting through!

Here's the website: Overview - State Disability Insurance

Phone Number: 1-800-480-3287
Thanks for this!
