Hello all my name is Michelle,

I have been with my long-term boyfriend for almost nine years! We both have schizoid-effective disorder. Neither of us can work. He is on Adult disability SSA and I am on SSI. If he gets SSI on top of SSA would we be able to get married? How much would they cut us back?

Thank you for any information,
Michelle

I really have no idea how that works. You should probably talk to a SSD lawyer

I think when you get one or the other, they check to see if you are eligible for both. But SSI can vary some by state (the Federal portion is the same nationwide but some states add more of their own money to it) so I would check with your state. But here's the Government's brochure on it, to see if he's eligible, etc.:
