My pdoc, who is also my osteopath, told me I need to really start seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis 'cuz my back is so screwed up (he didn't use that exact terminology). The only thing is my medicaid won't pay for a chiropractor, and I can't really afford one. My pdoc did recommend a good one who is willing to work with people as far as payment. A friend of mine suggested the same chiropractor. I guess I should give it a try--I know I need it.

Have you had an MRI to find out exactly what is WRONG with your back? Because seeing a Chiropractor without knowing exactly what's wrong CAN paralyze you -- and i was told this by *3* very noted NEUROSURGEONS, so i'm not just dreaming this up.

These Neurosurgeons told me that going to a Chiropractor can paralyze you, because manipulating the spine can cause the discs to herniate and impinge greatly on the spinal cord, which cuts off the blood flow to the cord - which WILL paralyze you. Of course there are other ways that manipulation can paralyze you too.

If you don't know exactly what's wrong with your spine DON'T GO to a Chiropractor!

Best of luck and God bless! Hugs, Lee

I love my chiropractor. I'm not paralyzed and have been going for about 8 or so years now. Terrible things can happen w/ any professional. We are all human.

The chiropractor is almost the only doctor I go to. Ear infections gone due to neck manipulation, TMJ gone, migraines lessened, planters faciaites (sp) gone, I started going due to stress settling in my neck muscles. He told me to get counseling and in the mean time he could help relieve the stress and get my muscles to unlock on onside.

My H goes as well. He had a knee issue and needed knee replacement surgery. He tried the chiropractor and never had the surgery and that was 15 years ago. My H does have degenerative arthritis and there are parts of him the chiro. simply will not touch. The chiro. says it is just not worth the risk to go messing around w/ some of those disks.

Shortandcute's psychiatrist is also a DO, Doctor of Osteopathy; basically, osteopathy is body manipulation for neurological conditions, which Shortandcute apparently has up the wahzoo :-) I think her doctor might know enough about her back and the rest of her conditions to know if a chiropractor could help her.

Some states offer Medicaid chiropractor coverage but if yours doesn't S&C, then I'd try for the recommended guy and his sliding scale first and/or try to save up some for a couple visits to at least see if it does help? Maybe then you could have a few fewer visits with your pdoc to save up any co-pays to pay for the chiro, do some combination thing.

Mine does after we meat our deducible. But we do have a cash price which is cheaper then w/ ins. We pay 40.00 a visit. I save my change and when I get 40.00 I go, unless I have a real issues which I sometimes do. The chiropractor often gives me a free visit for mothers day, x mas, or my birthday or he just pretends I didn't come and doesn't charge me. If I go and it will take several visits in order to get things straightened out again he will say how about $100.00 and we'll just work until we get the issue settled down. A 100. 00 cash and knowing he is going to get paid sometimes is worth to him and avoiding all the red tape that comes w/ the insurance.

I have always had a huge fear of chiropractic work, have seen people get hooked and never heal.
My massage T recommended one that was Very Gentle & I think she saved me, got me back in line, things healed nicely, (from a car wreck) & I have No issues with my back anymore.
The osteopath actually re-injured me & she got things back to right.

She worked with my insurance so I hope she was paid!

She was a Miracle for me. I hope you can work it out too....

Chiropractors are doctors too. They check for spinal injuries BEFORE they do adjustments. Like they ask questions of the patient to see if they have had surgeries, rods, etc....

They are actually educated and can figure out prior to an adjustment if it is right for the person looking for their care.

Shortandcute, I have been going to a Chiropractor for years and it has helped me immensely. I hope you can find a way to go so you can get some relief.
Thanks for this!
