My dad is a Veteran and we recently found out that the VA offers a lot of things to the Vets and their families.. though they don't let us know about them so we can't utilize. Fantastic.

A friend at the VA hospital told my dad that, as his child, I'm eligible to receive benefits and aid for mental health care. The website offered little to no help.. so far no one has been able to tell me anything.

Anyone know if there are actually any benefits for mental health to a child of a Veteran?

Yes, you may be eligible. Talking to the VA is not for the fainthearted. I recommend you contact a veterans service organization (VSO: DAV, AMVETS, American Legion, etc.) and talk to one of their national service officers (NSO). They know the system.

What is your father's VA status?

Here's the brochure/info to give your father (who he has to call, etc. to set it up): http://www.mentalhealth.va.gov/docs/...g-services.pdf
