Obamacare

Has anyone applied for Obamacare and actually recieved benefits? I read about people applying and paying, but when they went to the Dr. they had no record of their insurance.

The Obamacare doesn't go into effect until January 1, 2014. It won't pay for anything before that but the first payment is due in December.

I applied and was on the phone with a rep for 37 minutes to find out that I am not eligible for any insurance. Then was told that I was referred to Medicaid. Which is funny, I have already been denied for that and am fighting an appeal. So I guess the Obama care is only for the working or those that have income. Since I do not have any income I do not qualify for any medical insurance at all. Anyway, they are so confused at the Market Place. The called me and left a message. When I called them back, they had no idea why they even called. It wasn't until I told them I filled out the ap and wondered if they were calling to tell me something about it. I guess what I am saying is do not expect any miracles. However, it may be of benefit to some. Good luck.

I applied over the phone and they have lost so many applications.
Apply again for straight medicaid for yourself and there are income limits
but can't deny you for not having an income. When you reapply make sure you get a confirmation number.

They have expanded eligibility for medicaid.
They also provide tax credits [major ones] for insurance through the market place.
They also provide subsidies for those that qualify [which is very likely if you are in the space between medicaid and... whatever the hell else].

The subsidies often mean that you don't pay more than 10-20% of whatever is considered your monthly income [the definition can vary]. I've gone through the process at length with someone recently and was on the phone with someone for quite a while.

Actually what we ended up doing was applying once, getting a confirmation number and then CALLING and having them go through the online application with us on the phone.
TWICE.

It was kind of ridiculous.

No on really knows their head from their ***, and really my recommendation is to call your local SHIP and ask them to please help guide you and refer you to some one who knows what the hell they are doing.
