I'm tired of going through this crap.I want to-and need to-be a little more involved in the "real world" otherwise my depression will continue to get worse, but social security will keep on denying me unless I continue to stay in this hole. I'm not a real social, outgoing person, but I'm sick of not being able to do anything at all, like going to church (even if it is once in a while). I'm even afraid of going to AA anymore because the judge has used that against me.My doctor, psychiatrist, and therapist are encouraging me to get out more, but if I do, social security will use it against me. But if I don't, theyll use that against me. Ive had it. I'm just gonna try to find a job. I just dont know who the hell will hire me.

Don't you sell crafts online sometimes? I would start going the rounds of flea markets/yard sales, etc. in your area, see if you cannot get some sort of ideas and figure out ways to make more/sell locally, etc. That is, if it is something you enjoy making/doing enough? I was thinking about that when I was quilting a couple years ago; I made "cat mats" that were like/a bit bigger than dining table place mats to put on furniture arms/backs of couches, etc. to help protect the furniture from cat hair/scratching, etc., I guess kind of like the antimacassars of olde

Well I was trying to but that didn't work out. I'm not a very good salesperson.

How about a local support group for your condition(s)? Check meetup.com, NAMI and DBSA websites.

Its not right what social security does. Know that you are not alone. They do it to thousands of people. You try to do your best, you fall short and they use it against you. Be proud of yourself and trying. If you get hired and the job works out great, if you cant maintain it then that should help your attorney fight for you. It is a long process that wears you out. Just because you go to church or attend an hour long group doesn't mean you can maintain a job.
I understand how you feel stuck... damned if you do... damned if you dont.
Do the right thing. That is taking care of yourself as best you can. You need other human interaction. Best wishes for you.
Thanks for this!

That is kind of how I am feeling. I am on appeal for SSI so I am desperately hoping to win my case and get the SSI. But if I get denied again I don't know what I'll do...I feel like in that case I might do whatever I can to find some kind of work even if it destroys me.

I mean I hate my life the way it is, the income from SSI would help so much just because it would give me a few more options and I could potentially get out more and maybe even move out of my moms place and of course i could volunteer and do things that could improve my mental health. I just can't keep living the way I am...but the trouble is I don't know who the hell would hire me either.

sorry I don't have much advice, but I can sort of understand how you feel. But yeah I am about ready to give up on this damn system we have in this country.

Oh ok ssi. You must be young. I hope everything goes great, and you're approved quickly. Don't be afraid to be completely honest, and talk in regards to bipolar and employment.
