Anybody have anthem? I have zero experience with them but the plan is slightly better. I'm trying to decide which company to go with. I have experience with 3 of the 5 companies available. Kaiser which is low but I'd have to pay for MH on my own thus not really cheaper. The others are RMHP, Cigna and Aetna. My concern is working with a company that providers don't like for administrative issues or is slow to pay out of network or just plain argues with you about coverage. Aetna is great for that but they are quite a bit more. When it is individual you have to go through a back door because they do groups only. I am cheap with my meds and I don't have a GP. The one I am interested in takes all of the ppo's luckily. I don't know if she is taking patients though.

Yes, have Anthem; they have a good network, have always paid things on time, and customer service has always been on the ball in my experience with them, at least in two different states I have been with them for personal insurance. I would not hesitate to work with them.

From a billing/claims representative perspective, nothing of significance to note with any of them except that Kaiser is slow to pay claims and am just not familiar with RMHP to comment on it. The others are all good at paying claims to facilities.
'
I would also call your providers and facilities to see which of these insurances they already accept if you want to stay with the same providers, that might help in your decision as well to help further narrow your choices.

Good luck!

Thank you! That's really good to know. I think that is the company I will try. I only have one office to worry about and they take it. Luckily I only have to give them 7 months and then I can decide to go with somebody else if I want.

We have had Cigna for years and can't complain. They've paid promptly and well. Good MH coverage. Of course, company name isn't all you need to go on though. Each company has a variety of plans, and their plans are not created equal, so you just have to read the fine print and know what your needs are.
Thanks for this!

The only thing I didn't like about Cigna is the hospital I will never step foot in again is part of their network. At least for MH. They could be great for other things. I don't know. They have ancillary office too where I did dbt and I hate them too. I saw so much irresponsible care with friends and other patients. If the entire office would retire it might get better but I am not waiting for that. Some are in their 70s. If it wasn't for that they would be high on my list.

Alas it is all moot until October. My company wasn't honest about being able to use aca. They should have said "may be able to". When I called the state exchange they said no. The life event only works if they dropped it completely or the price is more that 10% of my income. Except my job is contract so really I don't know how much I will make until the end of the year. The others don't apply.

The truly bizarre part is even if it was 10% I still wouldn't qualify for the stupidest reason. I already had to have an account. But you can only sign up for an account during open enrollment. Why would I sign up for an account if I think I have insurance?

My advice? Everyone should get an account in October. You just don't know if you will need it.

Anyway, thanks for your feedback. I will be using this info in October.

I finally got a review from a provider pov. I asked several but they didn't deal with billing. Apparently the pay more than Aetna. Aetna pays quicker. Good to know!
