I wasn't sure which forum to post this thread so, I apologize if I'm in the wrong spot.
I'm in need of a partial hysterectomy (uterus removal). I found out 2 years ago that I have a single fibroid tumor in my uterus that, at the time, was the size of a softball. I put off getting the surgery due to no insurance or any saved money for the fees to the doctor & my rent & bills for during the time off I was told I'd need to take from work. I am on my feet for at least 6 hours per shift at work & my doctor said I'd need to take at least a few weeks off. Supposedly, I'm not even supposed to drive for 2 weeks. Because of my terrible financial situation, I couldn't even pay off my doctor at the time for the exam & ultrasound he performed on me when he found the tumor. Because I owe him money, he won't see me for an appointment so, I've been going to Planned Parenthood for gyno services since then. I'm still extremely broke & without insurance & I'm to the point where I'm positive the tumor has gotten larger & I'm in pain. 2 years ago, I never experienced any pain except menstrual cramps & heavy periods. Since I don't have a real doctor or anyone to go to, I'm considering going to the local ER & telling them about my tumor & hoping they'll keep me & schedule an immediate hysterectomy. My cramps are so bad at times, I have to call into work for the night off. I'm also constipated to the point where I have gone for 3 days without a bowel movement even after taking a laxative. I also look like I'm 4 months pregnant. ![]() My question is this: Will the ER help me by admitting me for surgery or will they send me home & tell me to make an appointment with a doctor? I'm not trying to screw the system or anything like that, I'm just getting desperate. I don't have the money to pay a doctor upfront for the surgery fee & I know I won't qualify for credit because my credit is terrible from my financial problems.

im not a professional but I think because it is not life threatening, they will tell you to get outside services.
it sounds as if you don't make much. with Obamacare, do you qualify for Medicaid services or do you make too much? |

I know with my gallbladder I went to the er and they wanted to do emergency surgery. I'd go in and tell them your in a lot of pain and you have a tumor. The social worker should be able to get you e emergence medicaid or something to help. Your in pain and need to be seen before it gets so bad you have to call the EMT to get there.

The ER will do nothing beyond maybe giving you a Rx for pain pills.
As kaliope said you might qualify for medicaid. Have you applied for that?

I have not applied for Medicaid. I did some research online & I plan on calling my county clinic for help. I'm hoping they can help me ASAP.
Thank you for the responses.
