A friend of mine in a support group has just been reviewed by SSDI. She turned all of her paperwork in, etc. Does SSDI notify her if she was approved on her review or does she just keep getting checks with no special notification that she passed the review? Thanks in advance.

I got a notice probably a month or 2 after sending it in.

Yes, she will be notified as to the result of the review (check the section "How often. . ." below to find out "why" she is being reviewed now):
