This morning I paid off a loan that I took out against my retirement when I was laid off a couple of years ago. It felt good to cut that bill out of my life, but there was on one I could tell; no one to share my success; therefore it was not a joyous moment.
Pretty pathetic when even good things make you feel bad. . . |

You appear to be a stranger to self-satisfaction, but perhaps that is just as well. Anyway, well done for ridding yourself of that debt.

Getting monkeys off of your back is a great thing. I'm on the verge of finally completing a 20 year term of student loans, and it's going to feel great.

That's really fantastic. Thrilled for you.
![]() I look forward to having that occasion myself but have along road ahead so I can only imagine what that will feel like. I would be celebrating. Do something nice for yourself to celebrate. ![]()

I'm glad you got that out of the way. If nothing else you have the experience of working to help yourself to remind yourself later of what you are capable of?
I remember when I was 29/30 years old and had to buy my own braces for my teeth and had to cash out my 401K to have enough money for the down payment. I was resentful that my parents were paying, that all this wasn't done when I was a teen, etc. but after I had finished with treatment and had taken care of my health problem all by myself, I was actually pretty proud.

I wish I could get out from under debt. I don't think I'll live long enough to get out from under. Congratulations to you for managing it!

I've been using the "Debt Snowball" technique that Dave Ramsey talks about on his Financial Peace program. I don't go in for all the Christian stuff, but the debt snowball has been working for me, so maybe it'll work for you too. |

There is a bar/restaurant that will serve me that is 146 miles from my house. I had to go out that way to buy groceries anyway, so I thought I'd get lunch and have a cold one while I was there. My boss found out and I got my butt chewed this morning. He says I cause enough trouble without deliberately making more by being seen with a beer in my hand when I'm off duty! I hate my life.
