Ok I know that my work income is counted against my husband because he gets SSI. IF I were getting disability income instead of actual work income would that still be counted against his income?
I'm hoping someone here might have real life experience with this because according to the social security website I've seen conflicting info.

That's an intriguing question. If you can't get definitive answers, you may want to try going to your local Social Security office. Or maybe legal aid?

We are seriously thinking about divorce then it won't be an issue. Isn't it funny that the government that makes such a stink about marriage and how important an institution it is punishes you for being married IF you get SSI. As of last count by being married my husband has lost out on over $65,000 he otherwise would have been entitled to because my whopping $25,000 a year should be more than enough for both of us
