Not what we want and not ideal, but it is what it is.

He just lost his job after being attacked by a dog at work. He also has a mental illness (made worse, I might add, by losing his job)

Frankly, we don't know what to do. Because he's living under our roof, our income makes a difference, I believe.

Can someone point me in any direction? He'll be collecting unemployment. He needs to eat. He needs to pay for insurance. He needs to be able to live.

I now live in a small house on my mom's property but while it was being built I lived in her house. I did have a separate address (which I think (not positive) you can establish by having an Apt. A or whatever) but her income did not affect my Medicaid. I wasn't on food stamps or anything else (I have SSDI but that doesn't change) but Medicaid was fine with it. I did call and check.

I hope it works out for you. It has been good for us. She's there to help with the things that are too hard for me to do/do well enough and I can help her sometimes as well as she gets older. We're both happy this way. I won't lie, we both sometimes miss when I lived in my old house in another town, but mostly it is good. We took a while to figure out how to make it work but it does.

Although that blog site seems to be very informative on HOW TO GET THINGS FROM OTHERS FOR FREE, intended for those who are disabled and/or poor,
seems to be lacking the most important section on how to get or accomplish things completely on your own
because being disabled never robs you of your ability to be creative and productive (big + small), including $ producing.
The power you have from within, often is overlooked when focusing on how/where/who you can get something from. YOU, must never be overlooked or handed-over for someone else to manage or control.
Set-up your own guidelines to apply, to yourself. The JOY earned when it works (is effective) is far greater than when somebody else gives it to you.

Example of small idea: Even within my limitations I recently thought of an idea to grow some small herbs + vegetables in my windowsill. Not completely free but much cheaper (and better tasting) than a store, and don't need to leave your home when you want some.

Money-making opportunities, even when disabled are endless* and only limited by lack of focus, to come up with ideas that may work for you (or fear of failurre, which almost always must occur a few times, before ideas, plans and any opportunity can succeed.
Only your mind +thoughts are required, an uncooperative + non-working body does not exclude you from the opportunity.
*I'm not suggesting or recommending any of those common make money at home schemes seen everywhere online. The opportunities are those YOU create in your OWN mind, that seem possible to meet your own personal nterests + needs.

Yep, see HOUSEHOLD RULES here as an example (scroll until you see HOUSEHOLD RULES as a heading or search that page for the world household), https://howtogeton.wordpress.com/201...-actually-eat/

If being in separate households makes a difference, ask each agency how they define household.
