Let's say the stealth option isn't available and due to your appearance you're stuck being "out" as transgender or something like that in a hostile work environment. What sorts of tips do you have for someone in this situation?

I see you live in the States. I'm wondering if there are laws that would protect you? If it's just getting the cold shoulder... Is there a chance there's at least one person who is human in there you could befriend? Sometimes that's all it takes to get the snowball effect, or if not, at least you wouldn't be surrounded :/ Maybe someone else has more helpful advice for you.

Would you be willing to say a bit more about what is happening to you at work?

Sounds a bit like me in high school...

As for tips... Well... It was high school so you could get away with a lot, but act tough, be an asshole, and make it so no one wants to mess with you....

Then again, that's my personality, I don't know about you, but that's what worked for me.

As much as I love that song and how touching the message is, I cant accept the mask covering who I really am. The guy I am now is only covering the girl I really am. I'd love to come out of the closet about it, but I'm terrified as to what my family and friends may think of me.

A bit more context -- if possible -- would be helpful.

I think a lot depends on how hostile the environment and on how much you (or the person you're asking for) depend on that job.
