I was just wondering if anti-psychotics can make it difficult --- I am currently taking Abilify and have had trouble in that area. My drive/libido seems very low. Also, at my age do I have to worry about ED? I'm very paranoid here.

Some medications associated with mental health issues can cause sexual issues as well. Check the side effects of your medication.

The government’s website does not list orthostatic hypotension as a side effect, but https://www.abilify.com/ does. Orthostatic hypotension is low blood pressure when you sand up. It is caused by blood pooling when you are sitting or lying. It is a symptom of blood flow that is not getting the job done. Blood flow is necessary to make you friend stand at attention, so I see how that drug could cause some problems for you. But I based most of the above on stuff I just read. So I may be way wrong. As far as masturbation goes an erection is not necessary for ejaculation.

I guess my real question is will my libido ever return? I am coming off the Abilify, as I've had nothing but problems with it in the last 4 weeks.

I saw nothing about loss of libido in the stuff I read. However, that does not mean that it is not responsible for your feelings or lack there of. Asking a pharmacist or doctor would be the way to go if it is causing you to be stressed out.

I have been taking celexa 40mg and abilify 30mg / day. I have noticed my libido is CRAP. I'm gonna talk to the pdoc real soon about wellbutrin. It's supposed to have less sexual side effects than most anti depressants. Dunno if the abilify is helping either.
It's bad I havn't had a sex drive in over a year. |

I would suspect the Abilify, even if loss of libido isn't listed as a side effect, simply for the fact that SO MANY of psych related drugs I've seen have that effect.

I have had trouble with ED/reaching orgasm since I started taking anxiety/depression meds.
I am not sure about Abilify in particular but many meds have been known to cause sexual side effects. |
