Has anyone tried effexor for their OCD?

I have tried effexor and I have ocd, it did help me some but the side effects were just to much for me after being on it for a year I had to get off it. I believe that effexor is used to lessen the anxiety which in turn is supposed to lessen the effects of ocd but like every other med it differs from person to person.

I had problems with weight gain plus if I missed a dose I felt really sick, I know there were more side effects than that but I can't remember what they were. However I do remember that at the time that I was on it I showed some weird symptoms because my family dr sent me to a neuroligist, after I switched to prozac the odd symptoms disappeared.

Hi berries I was on Effexor over ten years ago for 24 months(about 150mg from memory) and my personal experience wasnt that fantastic(mixed feelings)I can honestly say from my experience that it initially had an impact on me.It turned me from a recluse to an extrevert. I felt invincible and it felt like I was runnin in a high gear all the time, couldnt stay still strolling the streets night and day,and eventually I had to stop as I became irritable and hostile towards many people who were in contact with me.But thats my personnal experience and like always claim and my doctor said not every individual experiences the same symptons.Please I would like any feedback on Effexor as I have considered possibly trying it again as there have been some enviromental changes this time round since I first tried it.

I'm on Effexor for my OCD & I have been since July 2008.
 Before that, I was on Fluoxitine for 6 months & had to stop because I was having bad side effects.

I am on Effexor for depression and anxiety. It works ok. As for OCD, I can't say that it has much of an effect. Sorry.

I am on Effexor XR for major depression. I don't know if it has had any effects for obsessive-compulsive issues. Good Luck. phoenix47
