Ive posted in the anxiety section before but i think this fits my problem better. The past year or two ive had these terrible intrusive thoughts. It started at an interview i had and the boss couldnt have been a nicer guy, but mid way through the interview i had this thought [ not an urge ] to spit on his face! it kept coming back and wouldnt leave my mind. Also, disturbing thoughts of harming family members or acting out sexually or violently. These thoughts drive me crazy and ive read many posts here and much information on the internet to think this may be OCD, however i have no compulsions, or "rituals" that i do. Has anyone else had this same issue, how do you control these thoughts? i am taking 20mg of citlaprolam and xanax as needed but it doeesnt seem to help...

kjb, this does sound like OCD. You can have OCD without compulsions; however, a T without OCD experience may not know what to do with your symptoms. Make sure when you look for help you find someone with OCD experience who can give you a proper diagnosis. Also, anti-anxiety medications are unlikely to make your intrusive thoughts go away. Usually people with OCD are given antidepressants with CBT therapy.

i really hope everything improves for u. i've had intrusive thoughts similar to the ones that you have been having, mostly just violent ones. I've had them since i was like 4 or 5 years old and im 21 now, and lately they have really been bothering me. I'm also on citalopram, but that hasnt helped, its really helped with my anxiety but not for the thoughts. im not in any way saying it wont work for u becuase everyone is different, but i'm hoping it will work for u. and i recently got put on another med so maybe that will finally do the trick. i wish u the best of luck and a happy thanksgiving and holidays. Peace love and granola! take care!
