Hi everyone,
I've had this thing for awhile, and it's sooooo annoying. Let's see if I can describe this right...It's like, as I'm writing, if I don't make a letter "right", it will give me a strong urge to "fix" it. For example, if I make a letter in a word too dark or too big, my mind will not let it go until I fix it. Sometimes I can distract myself enough so that it won't bother me much anymore, but sometimes I just have to fix it. Like on a multiple-choice test, when the urge is making it harder to concentrate on the rest of the test. I try to describe this to my T, but it is very difficult and somewhat embarrasing. She says that pdoc would most likely rule it out as not being OCD. Does anyone else have this problem? I hope this makes sense. This has been bothering me for a little over a year, by the way. Thanks in advance ![]()

On its own it proberly is not OCD but I really would not give in to the feeling it may just be a anxiety over studing......If you had other issues that feel kinda the same then maybe but I'm sure it just a due to stress or anxiety that lots of people get. Everyone has quirks......

That's why I keep wondering about it, because feeling the need to "get things right" doesn't just come through in this way. I'll adjust stuff if I feel the urge to, because it feels like if I don't, then something might happen to someone I care about. It's usually worse the day or so following my appointments with my T, because I care about her and worry something might happen. I don't know, I just want it to end. Especially the thing when I write. It's just so irritating.

If you have a just right feeling about other things than tell you T the just right feeling is a common OCD thing but it would have conected with more than just writing for your T dx's you with OCD if that want cause the just right feeling. The more you talk about the more likly you'll get a proper d'x even if you think it the silliest though, symtom, behaviour, ect tell the Dr.....some of the things my OCD has made me feel or think are so hard to explain to my Dr but I try over time I realised dose not matter how strange my explaintion my T has listen and even tryed to help me discribe it. Just try to talk everything and over time the T might see more OCD symptoms if you think that what you have. |

That's the worst part for me, trying to explain it. And then I try to explain it to pdoc, but my parents always come with me to those appointments, so explaining it with them in the room always makes me embarrassed. They offer to leave for a minute, but I get nervous if they aren't there

I dont know where you live or what your countries rules are or how you parent are ect but could you ask them to let you have session on your own. Once you comfortable and got all the information out to you Dr then get the Dr to explain in a way that in more clinical I supose to your parents. Some time we have to get threw some weird thoughts to get the ones we need to deal with and I know from personal experiance that getting all the thoughts out and sorting threw which one need to be dealt and which one I can ignore is easier if your not always looking for the reaction on faces or there body from the people you love. Some time we may need to say things that may even hurt the feeling of people we love but our intenstion in not make them feel bad it to understand why we feel that way. In Australia kids have a right to privacy from Dr's ect from as young as 10y I think somthing like that They dont need parental permission to see a Dr they just need there medicare card ect. That is good for kids but not alway good for the parents but it to help kids feel safe about talking about things that may be to hard to do in front of there parent speically if the parant are not always looking out for the best interest of the child which I'm in no way saying that refurs to your situation. I just know that I talked to a young person once who parents would not take her to see a Dr cause thay said she was an attention seeker and her country did not allow her to go in by her self. It a shame when things like that happen all kids and young people deserve to be happy and healthy. |

im shaking my head as i write this, which im sure you did when you wrote yours, as no doubt like me, you feel completely nuts... i reckon if you studied yourself for a while, you probably do the same with a lot of things, colour co-ordinating, to a point where it becomes manic... i bet you are VERY organised and get distressed if someone either interferes or doesnt put things back in the correct place... im curious to see if this is true... anyway, just thought id pop you a reassuring post, just to let you know you are definitely not alone... xx ![]() |

That makes sense to me.
It does sound like OCD. I would just talk to your T about it more. The way you put it here was very clear and I'm sure he/she will understand. Everyone has their little idiosyncrisies (sp?), and this sound like one of them. However, I think you should work on this with your T. This sounds like it takes up a decent amount of time especially if you are in school and you're writing all day. And I know how you feel as far as having difficult explaining things. Sometimes I wish I could remove my brain and put it in my T's head so she can see exactly what I'm trying to get at sometimes. |
