Does anybody else feel like a prisoner to your ocd rituals? I can be doing okay and then WHAM! my ocd rears its ugly head and I lose time when I should be doing something else. My mind says just five minutes and then I spend more than an hour giving in to the rituals. I hate this!!!

faylowell ...
Take a really quick break and conduct an "internal assessment" of yourself: Ask yourself: 01. Am I tired? Did I get enough sleep? 02. Is something bothering me that is causing this "spike" in my OCD symptoms? 03. If you are on medication to treat your OCD, did you remember to take it? Did you take the correct dosage? 04. Am I worn down? Have I had anything to eat or drink at all in the past few hours? If not, then eat or drink something that will provide you with some fuel for both your body and mind. 05. Am I having personal stressors? Family. Friends. Spouse / Significant Other issues. Monetary issues. Education stressors. Etc. 06. Have I encountered this before (i.e. this spike in symptoms), and if so, what did I do to ameliorate (lessen) the effect it was having on my well-being? Hopefully this brief, but limited advice will assist you. Take care from a fellow OCD individual, -vertebrae- ![]() ![]() |
