I mentioned it in my introduction but now that I'm on the subforum I thought I'd go into more detail as an introduction on this part of it.

The main thing I deal with is germophobia. I wash my hands all the time and won't dry them with the towel because the towel could have something on it. As a result my hands are really dry and chapped. I also won't eat chicken because I'm afraid of salmonella, won't eat the shredded lettuce that we get because the company recenly recalled salads for ecoli. If I eat hamburger, I practically burn it to make sure that there is no chance of any bacteria remaining. The fork can't be on the table because it could be contaminated with something. I also rinse off all my pop cans because I don't know what might be on them. I also am always carrying around a thermometer to make sure that I don't have a fever. I also won't finish a drink if somebody has a drink out of my glass and I have my own stash of snacks in my room so that I know that nobody is reaching in with hands that haven't been washed.

I also have a little bit of counting and checking. I will recheck that the lights on the car are off probably half a dozen times and I check my alarm a few times before I go to bed. I also have to recheck the freezer door to make sure it is shut properly. As far as the counting goes, when i put on my deodorant it is always 10 and when I'm blowdrying my hair I count to 60 then switch sides.

This kind of gives you an idea of mine and I look forward to helping each other out as we try to conquer this.

I was diagnosed with OCD about 30 yrs ago. My faith has really helped me conquer it, altho I recently had a med change and am going thru a speed bump. Not to give pat answers, but faith is the opposite of fear. Your ID name suggests that you know Christ as Personal Savior. In the Scriptures, Paul says that we should bring every thought to His obedience (2 Cor 10:5) I found this to be very helpful, as I struggle with fears. I found celexa to be great, except for the recent dangerous side effect revelation. I had to change since my med history has cardiac probs. I am on prozac but I don't like it as much.......I will pray for you

Thanks beaut. I'll try and remember that next time I'm getting anxious about something. When I read that I also though about that one verse even though I can't remember the reference "Perfect love casts out all fear" and God is love.
