I don't see why it wouldn't be. It doesn't really cause any damage, then again neither does the fear of the number 13 but apparently you can get treated for it.

I've been cracking my knuckles constantly (every five minutes? Every minute? idk...) ever since I was about four. It has never stopped since. And it's not just my knuckles but my jaw, elbows, knees, neck, back, ankles, toes...anything i can crack. I'm cracking my joints now as we speak. It's just a habit really. It's probably stress related, but I do it so much I can't really tell why I do it.

I don't really want to stop either since i know it can't cause arthritis, though I heard it can tear ligaments and stretch out my fingers...not sure how plausible that is either...But my parents HATE it when I do it and yell at me and tell me its gross and that I'm gonna get arthritis.
Thanks for this!

It's a habit, but not a disorder. It's like an addiction, only you don't pawn your mother's jewelery to pop your knuckles or lock the door & newspaper the windows so no one sees you getting your jaw-cracking fix. The only problem I know it causes is: Since cracking joints releases little air bubbles in the hinge, the more you do it, the faster air is going to return & create soreness/tension. That, in turn, leads to more cracking & it kind of turns into a vicious cycle. First it's a silly habit, then you literally NEED to do it to avoid stiffness.

Shayatanica, that's pretty much where I'm at now. I don't even notice I do it. I try really hard not to for my aunt (my parents have given up) but every now I slip up, or it just hurts too much.

DrSkipper, I'd be a hypocrite if I told you to stop, since I'm pretty much in the same place and I can't stop, but if you haven't started to hurt yet, it'll get there, and it's not fun, and try and stop before it hurts.
