Hi. I'm not sure if this is OCD, but! I have a need to know and understand certain things sufficiently. So when I am uncertain, anxiety and pressure grow inside me. I get often worried about maths and semantics (and their details). In many cases, I ruminate (obsessively) alot or I get stuck without being able to go further.

In this post, I'm asking you to help me with one word: unit. I wanted to understand the definition of "memory location," so I looked up the term and this is what I got:
Quote:
memory location: <storage> A byte, word or other small unit of storage space in a computer's main memory that is identified by its starting address (and size).
The definition is making me uncomfortable, since I'm not sure about the word "unit."
Quote:
unit [1]: a single thing, person or group that is complete by itself but can also form part of something larger
unit [2]: a fixed quantity, etc. that is used as a standard measurement
1. Which of these two defintions applies to the "memory location" definition?
2. And does "a unit of storage space" mean a unit made of storage space or a unit belonging to storage space?

Thanks for help.
