I have an obsession with making lists. to the point i will right the same list over and over again. there's always paper scattered on my floor around my apartment. It makes me feel organized, but in reality it has the opposite effect. it's usually to do lists, or i write down appointments, or budget plans, and wishlists/goals. not really sure if it's considered an ocd or not. any suggestions/opinions/advice anyone can give me ?

Wow! Now you have me wondering. I may ask around about this. I have always...ALWAYS made lists. When I was younger it was so bad that I couldn't sleep at night because I absolutely had to make lists and make sure I was prepared for the next day. Almost every night I would make lists for my day the next day... how I could organize my morning so it would go smoothly, what I would wear and eat, what time I would get up, eat, brush my teeth, down to the minute.
I don't do it as much anymore, but I still do sometimes if I know something is going on the next day and I don't want to be caught unprepared for it. I can't sleep and I make lists for the following day until I can't hold my eyes open anymore. Sometimes it's the same list over and over again until I feel like I finally got it right...and then they will all look the same in the end anyway. |

Probably an expression of OCD. But, if that's your biggest issue from OCD, that's not too bad. Many people are so overwhelmed by rituals and obsessive thoughts that they can barely function. I make lists quite often, too (maybe more than I should), and I do have mild OCD, so it would make sense that list making can be related to that condition.
