I seem to have issues with OCD, but not quite sure if I have it. Whenever I'm out and about, and finished doing something - like reading one of my books or simply just writing, I'd put them back in my bag but then I would check to make sure I haven't left anything behind and sometimes I check it more than once. I also, when I get up to leave, would turn back once or twice to make sure that I haven't forgotten something even though I already checked my bag. I still get this panic feeling that I have left something and someone would take it; although, I do manage to push that thought out of my head.

Apart from constantly checking things, I tend to have obsessive and intrusive thoughts running through my mind that won't go away. For a long time it was guilt before I had someone that told me that was normal for a kid to do. However, I still fear I might do something bad to somebody if I'm anywhere near them, and it makes me feel as if I'm a horrible person for thinking that way. If I'm around with anyone (even animals), I'm afraid I might act aggressively or sexually. These thoughts scare me, I don't really want to hurt anyone.

Is it likely that I could have OCD? If so, how do I stop it?
Thanks for this!

It sounds a lot like OCD.. I would go get diagnosed for sure though because I'm not a doctor, I just suffer from it. The thoughts are the worst part by far. I would go to a therapist, maybe you have one at school or in your town. I just saw a school therapist and I took an OCD screening test type thing and I was diagnosed and referred to a psychiatrist for possible medication. Just know even if you have the medication you don't have to take it. Also online you can find OCD work books which can help you cope with your symptoms. I hope you can find some peace in your head.

Thanks.
I met with a therapist in town a few times but never told him about it. I don't think he specializes in OCD. I wish I had told my psychiatrist when I went to one just months ago.

You're welcome, has it recently gotten worse? I never really brought it up to my therapist until it started interfering with my life. Maybe he didn't see it as a problem just yet because you were kind of coping with it on your own. I think it would be a good idea to either get one of those books or go to a psychiatrist to really get diagnosed.

No, it hasn't gotten worse, it seems to be mild by far. I would go to a psychiatrist for diagnosis, though, if I have the money to pay for it.

Why specifically go to the psychiatrist for OCD diagnosis over your therapist?

CBT is actually often pretty effective with mild to moderate OCD.
Thanks for this!

This sounds exactly like OCD to me. See a professional to be sure.

I suffer from the same exact thoughts and I have been diagnosed with OCD.
