Although there is an abundance of literature available about OCD and Intrusive Thoughts, I can't seem to find any that are specifically about a person having these thoughts but they are not of harming others, or self.

Instead, the thoughts are of someone else hurting me and mine. Just the opposite of most of the stories I've read where everyone fears hurting someone else.

Anyone know anything about this?

THANKS!

Welcome to Psych Central. Sorry to hear you are feeling anxious about others harming you.

Here is an article that describes one type of suspicious nature
Paranoid Personality Disorder Symptoms | Psych Central

and a forum that deals with various anxieties
Anxiety, Panic and Phobias - Forums at Psych Central

You might consider talking to your psychiatrist about adjusting or changing your medicine.

Welcome TerryLicia. First of all welcome to PC There are many kinds of intrusive thoughts, not only about harming or being hurted. If you often have these thoughts and they cause you a lot of stress, it could really be OCD. Have you a therapist that could help you through this?

Welcome to PC. Not certain about literature, yet, my impression it'd be in the anxiety realm, if researching? Definitive answers would come from a therapist or pdoc.

i have both, me hurting someone or someone hurting me. i was assaulted by an ex boyfriend and i think that has alot to do with it. sometimes i think to harm someone else but it is just a thought and im working with my t to get rid of these thoughts. my doc told me many people have this problem, but i never heard of it until i started posting here, which gave me relief to think i'm not the only one with this problem.

In fact when I was a child/teenager I used to have intrusive thoughts that someone might harm me. For me I think it came from the emotional abuse I suffered at the hands of my mother.
