Hi.

Im just after some advice or to see if theres other people going through the same thing.

For as long as i can remember ive counted..
Only from 1 to 10.
When i reach 6 i repeat it over and over again to the point where it sounds like im just hissing because in that moment i just cant move on to the next number, it almost hurts to say 7, 8, 9, 10. When i finally do i feel so releived.
Almost satisfied, until the next time. This usually happens a few times a day.
I just want to stop, it leaves me in tears some days and its exhausting.

Sound like OCD to me - counting is one of their things (I've done it too). Didn't check your profile maybe you have it listed but it definitely sounds like OCD to me.

Welcome to PC Leesh. I'm sorry, it sounds upsetting. I too think that it's OCD. I have OCD too, though with other symptoms. Could you see a therapist? It could really help. Hope that communicating with people here can make you feel less alone, and that you find the courage to seek help in real life as well.

Thank you for responding everyone.

Ive attempted to see a therapist. Made the appointment and everything! But as the day gets closer the counting gets worse then I just cant go. I know this first started out every time I was nervous about something but now Its all the time. One example being when I watch a movie and the ending credits come on I just start stressing out and counting.

Im just not sure how to explain it to someone face to face.
