After taking the sanity score test, the OCD test, and months of research on my own. I'm fairly sure I have some form of OCD, or at least pure O OCD. I have always had intrusive thoughts, sometimes they are worse than others, but it has been fairly consistent since middle school. I have an appointment with my general physician in a couple of days and am considering bringing it up. How should I go about doing that? I don't think giving him my theory would do much good, as usually doctors dismiss a self-diagnosis. But I also don't want to mention the intrusive thought issue in detail as some of them are fairly disturbing and I'm afraid he would misunderstand.

I have been putting discussing this with my doctor for a while, but I recently realized how badly anxiety in general affects me. I had a very violent arm tremor for about a month a few months ago which the only thing I could attribute that is anxiety as it didn't match any physiological diagnosis and a battery of tests revealed nothing. I'm a college graduate and I don't have a drivers license due to anxiety regarding that and it has been a factor preventing me from having a functioning romantic relationship. I have been afraid I was overreacting but I am slowly figuring out how much of an issue it is. Since I am starting a very prestigious internship at a think tank in DC next week I know moving to a major city from a small, rural town and the competitive, high pressure environment there could exacerbate the issue if there is one, so I'm thinking it is imperative for me to discuss it with my doctor beforehand.
