I have read that some sites say it's lifelong, while others saying it isn't. I am confused about what is the truth. Is it only treatable? Thanks for the response

It is very treatable with cbt. Especially traditional ocd.
Intrusive thoughts take a lot longer to go away, if ever, you just learn to cope with seeing yourself slit your throat 40 times a day. |

Depends on how much work you put into it. Cbt needs to be actively used to work and most people are honestly too lazy.
My intrusive thoughts will likely never go away completely. |

OCD is lifelong but treatable with medication and therapy.
