So I have OCD and PTSD (among other things) and my art therapist thinks my OCD and PTSD have collided, that I am now obsessed with my trauma. My art therapist said she never had anyone have trauma as an obsession and I don't think she knows how to help me. Does anyone else have this? I went to her more to process trauma, maybe I need to go to someone else who has more experience in OCD. I don't know.

Perhaps a therapist that specializes in PTSD & Trauma Recovery would be a better fit?

Thanks for your reply. That's what my art therapist specializes in actually. The bigger problem is the obsession at this point.

i have had a lot of trauma in my life but it is one ocassion (probably the least traumatic actually) which I often find myself ruminating on. I have a lot of deep rooted anger and resentment over it. Whenever something doesn't quite go well or as planned in my current life I automatically blame it on the event. All too often do I ask myself 'what if it never happened?
My own doctor has explained my OCD to me as being the coping mechanism or crutch to dealing with my PTSD/Anxiety |

Thanks everyone! Yes, I do have circular thinking. OCD as a crutch, interesting.
