I have thought OCD. I'm trying to break my obsessions by not thinking and focusing on other things but I just don't feel safe not thinking about these thoughts. I fear something bad will happen. This stinks.

I understand exactly how you feel. I used to have this problem as a child, although it's still recurrent now, in my teenage years. In my case, I always oblige myself to think of the worst outcome possible for a certain situation, thinking that thus, I will prevent that potential thing from happening ( like, only because I expect it to happen and I acknowledge its possibility, it won't happen ) . You are definitely not the only one stuck in this vicious cycle.

I cannot give you professional advice, that's for sure, but one thing I did and that worked for me is simply let go of these thoughts, one by one. Rationally speaking, there is no use in having these thoughts, and that's a thing you must acknowledge. Then, simply refuse yourself the privilege to think these things anymore. Find a distraction, a REAL distraction, something unexpected that will throw you in a completely new situation that you must adapt to ( this may be the worst suggestion ever, but survival horror games are very effective ) . Do this with just one thought, leave the others alone. Gradually, day by day, go through all the thoughts that you have and eliminate them one by one.

I do hope I've helped you somehow. Take care and let me know how you are doing!

@88Butterfly88.. It's pretty much common not to feel safe when you break the cycle. In my case, sometimes I do things in multiple of 5, let's say I'm scratching my ear.. I do it 5 or 10 or 15 times..(lightly though ). When I break this pattern, say do that 2 or 3 times, I feel like I am going to die soon or get a disease or something bad is going to happen.

I mentioned my condition to let u know that u aren't alone in this. There are others also facing this issues day in and out. Learn to let things go. I know it's an uphill battle, and each time you start from the beginning. Stay Healthy..
