I pick at my skin, but at existing flaws. For example, I had a small insect bite on my shoulder which I've picked at constantly, and now, several weeks later, I have a sizeable red and painful wound. I do the same thing with lumps and, scratches, cuts, spots etc. I never pick at a healthy bit of skin, there is always something else. I don't know if this would count as dermatillomania or not?

Yes, I'd say it counts as dermatillomnia. My spots always start as small imperfections too.

Any sort of compulsive skin picking could qualify as dermatillomania, for sure.
