I think I do. For me I had endless intrusive thoughts and feelings for 4 years before I 'decided' that there is something wrong, this isn't normal and shouldn't be happening after all. So now that I 'knew' that this is not normal and there is something wrong with me, I used that fact to help distract myself from them, like for eg If I feel a thought coming, I'm like "It's ok, you don't have to fight them, they are a mental disorder". So after many months of doing this I think this process and thoughts are just subconsciously happening in the background without my knowing or control. So I don't actually feel the thoughts directly anymore, and I hear I have to expose myself to them, but I don't even feel them directly anymore.... great

Any tips for when you're too anxious to let thoughts float? I halfway know how to do that but sometimes I'm too anxious.

For example, what if I told you to NEVER think of PINK ELEPHANTS. Under no circumstances should you ever picture a PINK ELEPHANT. Now what are you thinking of? Is it possible to speed up the going away of OCD thoughts?

The trick with these intrusive thoughts is to practice witnessing them without judgement, letting them flow by like a river or float by like a cloud. For me I had to do this with the help of a very good psychologist while inpatient, as my Pure O was particularly severe, but some can do it alone. If you are able to get a therapist that is experienced with intrusive thoughts I would highly recommend it.
My therapist taught me this 2. Ocd is hard.

It's not like I don't know that, but it feels like it's only possible sometimes.

When anxious, "let thoughts float" sometimes feels like a platitude.
