Does anyone here have OCD that keeps morphing into different forms?

Like I might have OCD in the form of germophobia. But then a year later, my OCD will transform into something else like the fear of the number 13.

But when my OCD transforms into something else, what used to trouble me earlier doesn't trouble me anymore. My OCD often transforms into social anxiety. When I have social anxiety, I don't have OCD.

Anyone here know how to deal with this? They say the cure for OCD is CBT. You perform CBT and get over your fear of whatever it is that you're scared of. But when I do this, my OCD then transforms into something else.

Yes that is common for Ocd the switch themes. I have gone through many in my lifetime. I dont have any advice on what therapy works best because I just started therapy.

What therapy have you started? CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)?

Yeah, you get over one thing, or at least manage it, and something else becomes the obsession. It's like a Hydra.
Thanks for this!

Oh I didn't know they did EMDR for OCD. Have you tried CBT before? Once you start it, you can do it on your own too

I heard that for some people, their OCD obsessions stay the same for their whole life. So when they get over that obsession, OCD no longer affects them. They're lucky

The reference just made my day.

To the OP, I agree with above, it's pretty common. Welcome to PC.

Is it possible to get over one obsession and then stop it in its tracks? Stopping it before it becomes another obession?

I'm not sure. I've never been able to stop it.
