So I've been having a tough time with my OCD lately. I am constantly wiping/cleaning/disinfecting items that I use daily. I regularly use Clorox wipes, Lysol aerosol, lysol wipes, wet ones, and alcohol prep pads, hand sanitizer on mostly items I have to touch. I also even use above items on my hands. You could probably imagine that they sometimes burn from the constant use of cleaning chemicals. I have although only been using Lysol and Lysol wipes in the bathroom and not room anymore. My parents have been warning me that I should really stop using so many cleaning chemicals because I could possibly contract some type of lung problem from the chemical fumes (especially the Lysol aerosol) or even a superbug because I'm constantly using the cleaning chemicals. I don't know who else may have this problem, but I just can't seem to stop so is it really that dangerous to constantly disinfect items that I use/touch?

You know... I don't really know the answer to this. And I don't know if there would be anyone who really would. I suspect this may be one of those questions that no one could really answer definitively. My thinking with regard to this is that you're unlikely to do yourself any harm doing all of this disinfecting (with the exception of what it's doing to your hands!) But I don't know that for a fact. Hopefully, though, you're receiving some mental health therapy services for this. Regardless of whether or not there could be any danger from using so many disinfecting agents, being driven to continually disinfect everything is a tough way to live. It would really be best if you could find a way to get your need to disinfect everything under control.

Thanks for this!
