please don't be offended if my question comes out dumb, ok?

what i want to know is "can a person have mild ocd that bothers them but is not really horrible"? my whole life i have had repitious moviements or thoughts - like biting the inside of my lip, clearing my throat a certain way, clenching certain muscles...? is there a book or something i could read, i mean honest if i get one more dx i don't know what i will do. but it would sure be nice if i could stop being afraid.

thanks for any input you can give. i'm so tired of anxiety.

yeah, there are definitely degrees and styles of OCD. compulsions take different forms and are stronger or weaker for different people or at different times. like I have no issues about germs or contamination at all, which is the thing you always hear.

you might try taking the OCD quiz here to see if it sounds like you. it's in one of those links under the logo up top. i found it pretty accurate for me.

I agree that there are different degrees of ocd. The way that my T explained it is that it has to disrupt your life to really be a disorder, a lot of people have the obsessions and compulsions without reaching the point of it becoming a disorder. If you have the disorder you could have a milder form of it or you could just not be noticing or showing all symptoms at this time. I also agree that you may find the quiz here helpful, just remember it is not a diagnosis tool but you could print the results and share them with your T so you could explore the idea in therapy.

(((((((( multipixies )))))))))

It can be a way of coping or a way to feel safe. It only needs treatment if it is disrupting your life.

I would say the only dumb question is the one that is not asked.

I have an OCD on one of my AXIS things and try not to obsess on it. I find that would not be dumb if it does not bother you terribly and that the ocd is more under control, important not to let it go any further, so keep doing all you are doing to keep it not that bothersome to you as it can consume your every being. I find some meds help me more not to obsess, yet others induce it i believe. I think asking questions is a good positive way of keeping it under control. Keep up the good work.krzykris101
