When I was a young kid up to about my mid teens, my mother had a couple of really odd habits. One she would acknowledge and even joke about, which was twirling a strand of hair in her fingers all the time. That strand was always nice and curly.
The other thing she did was to "lip-synch" along with people who were talking. She always moved her lips along with whatever someone else was saying. She doesn't seem to do either of these any more. These things seemed to stop sometime after I grew up and left home. Obviously there were stresses in the family as my father was (I now realize) mentally ill and very abusive (verbally always, physically sometimes). She was no role model of mental stability herself, and she still has some issues as do I. She is now in her late 70s and relatively healthy and active. I've never heard of or seen anyone else doing the "lip sync" thing with people. Has anyone heard of this? |

I have seen people do the lip sync thing but I have no idea what causes this, I am sure it is probably an anxiety thing.

My older brother sometimes do it. I first noticed when I was about 7 or so. I always thouht he was talking to himself or he was saying something that he didn't want my family and I to hear. But I don't know wat causes this or why.
