okay, i think i might have OCD but i havent gone to a doctor to check yet. I constantly worry about my family and friends safety, i check things over and over that i know i've checked, like if my straightener is unplugged or all the doors to the house are locked or if i have my keys before i leave the house, i constantly have worried thoughts on my mind and i can't get them out of my head to focus on anything else for 5 seconds. I constantly wash my hands whenever i do anything, i'm always afraid of hurting other people with anything i do, and i always have superstitions on my mind about bad luck and good luck. its out of control at this point and i cant seem to do anything without having thoughts on my mind that i dont want to think about. Can anybody give me any insite on what they believe this might be? Thank you

I wanted to say welcome to Psychcentral!

We can't diagnose here but it sounds like OCD and what might help you is to take one of the quizzes that are available. After you take the quiz taking it with you when you go see a professional might be a way to help break the ice. The quizzes aren't a way to diagnose but a way to help you when you do see a professional.

If the things you are describing are bothering you enough to ask about them then I would seek out help.

I have OCD and some of my things that I deal with are light switches the ones that have more than one switch on them they all have to be up or down one can't be up and the other down it drives me batty. I also have to check to see if my windows and doors are locked. Textures are a big thing for me also. I have a lot of things that go into my OCD and things that I hadn't thought about until the doctor that diagnosed me asked me about them.

If you have any questions or concerns though feel free to ask me I will gladly answer them. Feel free to PM me any time.

Jbug

I agree with Jbug, it does sound like ocd but only a professional can diagnose you.

i used to have the same situation of constantly "checking" things before i left the house. it would often take me 20 or 30 minutes to leave the house because i couldn't remember if i locked the door or not.

Eclipsed_Vampire, those are OCD symptoms by the sound of it...but, like others said, only a doctor can diagnose you. Best wishes

I have a lot of those issues too. heck i wake up two hours earlier to make sure its all done and turned off. Water is off. doors lock, lights out.

But like they all said you need a dr's diagnosis. Sounds like it to me. You can try to minimize by making a checklist. its what i have to do in order to actually leave the house on time.

Take care,

Colleen
